Andrew Vachss is
the one of the first names I think of, to describe "art with attitude."
His novel series tours the back alleys of New York City with Burke, an
outlaw son of the streets, as he quests to protect his "family"
and to rid the city of child-rapists and other scum, one body at a time.
His writing is harsh and vivid, his characters drawn in powerful 3-dimension.
Vachss is a lawyer who walks his talk, sharing his hero's desire to make
the world a safe place for children to grow up, if not Burke's methods
of doing so. You can read about Andrew Vachss at his official site, the
Zero.
Blackglass.org
is a forum for dark writings, both poetry and prose. Many of the writers
and poets here are deserving of this award all by themselves, but by offering
this award to the site as a whole, we hope to encourage you to visit more
than just one. We thank Blackglass's webmistress for building this exquisite
collection.
